
You will be visiting Tsomogo Lake and Baba Mandir today. Hence, after breakfast, enjoy a thrilling journey towards Tsomgo Lake. Also known as Changu Lake, it is located at an altitude of 12,310 feet. On the way, you will be passing by Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary which is home to rare animals like Red Panda, Himalayan Black Bears, and birds like Blood Pheasants. Usually, you can only spot a few yaks though. Changu Lake is filled with water of melting snow coming from the surrounding mountains. It's a one-kilometer long oval-shaped lake. The average depth is about 50-feet. During summer and autumn, you will find Primula flowers and other Alpine vegetation growing around the lake. However, during the winter, the lake gets completely frozen.
Continue your journey towards Baba Mandir about 20km from Changu Lake after having some Tibetan noodles. Made in the honor of Indian army Major 'Baba' Harbhajan Singh, the shrine of Baba Mandir is the major tourist attraction here. As with most saints, the Baba is said to also grant favors presumably to those who revere and worship him. After offering your prayer head back to Gangtok again.
