Day wise Itinerary

Day 1: TRANSFER TO GANGTOK

On arrival at NJP/ Bagdogra Airport you will be greeted by our officials and then ushered to your hotel in Gangtok. With an approx distance of 120km it is an overall 4hrs drive from NJP/Bagdogra to reach Gangtok. Gangtok is a beautiful hill town and the capital of north-eastern state of Sikkim. Established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the 1840s, the city became capital of an independent monarchy after British rule ended, but joined India in 1975. The journey towards this beautiful town is filled with awe-inspiring view of alpine valley and daunting hills. Have your lunch on the way to Gangtok. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the day to stroll around MG Marg. Jotted with colorful souvenir shops, cafes and places to eat, a visit to this road will get you closer to the indigenous cultures, colorful traditions and the local delicacies of Sikkim. Day 2: SIGHTSEEING AT TSOMGO LAKE AND BABA MANDIR

After an early morning breakfast we will drive to your Tsomgo Lake. It is an overall 2hrs journey towards Tsomgo Lake from Gangtok. Also known as Changu Lake, Tsomgo Lake is a glacial lake in Sikkim and located at an altitude of 12,310 feet. On the way to Changu Lake you will pass by Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary which is home to rare animals like Red Panda, Himalayan Black Bears and birds like Blood Pheasants. Usually you can only spot a few yaks though. Changu Lake is filled with water of melting snow coming from the surrounding mountains. It's a one kilometer long oval shaped lake. The average depth is about 50feet. During summer and autumn, you will find Primula flowers and other Alpine vegetation around the lake. And during winter the lake becomes frozen and a snowfield. After soaking in the beauty of the serene lake you can awaken your taste buds by trying some Tibetan noodle or continue you journey towards Baba Mandir about 20km from Changu Lake. Baba Mandir is a shrine made in the honor of an Indian army Major 'Baba' Harbhajan Singh. He is revered by soldiers of the Indian army as the "Hero of Nathula". As with most saints, the Baba is said to also grant favors presumably to those who revere and worship him. After offering your prayer and having lunch head back to Gangtok. After arriving at Gangtok you are free for the rest of the evening to either relax or buy some souvenir for your close ones. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 3: GANGTOK LOCAL SIGHTSEEING

Wake up early and after breakfast be ready for your local sightseeing in Gangtok. The first destination on your list is Banjakhri Falls. Sited amidst a lush green valley spread over nearly 2 acres here you can learn about the traditional Jakhri culture. Next we will head towards Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. It is a world renowned institute doing its research on Tibetan language and culture. From here we will drive you to Hanuman Tok. It is a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Hanuman Tok is famous for offering a great view of Kanchenjunga peaks. After lunch we will take you to Rope Way to get a bird's eye view of Gangtok. Then we will take you to Botanical Garden to see beautiful collection of trees and plants with their scientific names. And lastly we will take you to Tashi View Point and Ganesh Tok to witness the surreal sunset over the lofty Himalayan Valley. Return to your hotel after the wonderful sightseeing. You are free for the rest of the evening to either relax in your hotel rooms or to explore the nearby market places. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 4: TRANSFER TO LACHEN

Wake up early and after breakfast checkout from the hotel and start your journey towards your hotel in Lachen. It is an overall 6hrs journey from Gangtok with an approx distance of 110km to reach Lachen. Lachen is a small Himalayan hamlet perched at an altitude of 2750mt. On the way to Lachen you will come across some of the most amazing destination like Singhik View Point famous for offering the most magnificent view of Mt. Khangchendzonga and Mt. Siniolchu, Seven Sisters Waterfalls where you can beckon the surreal beauty of cascading water, and Chungthang a pictorial place which is known to be blessed by Guru Padmasambava, the patron saint of Sikkim. Here you will find a rock which till day bears the hand and footprints of Padmasambava. Have lunch on the way to Lachen. After 6hrs journey, you will reach Lachen. Check into your hotel and freshen up. Rest of the evening you are free to relax and enjoy the scenic landscape of Lachen. Overnight stay at Lachen.

Day 5: VISIT TO GURUDONGMAR LAKE AND TRANSFER TO LACHUNG

Have an early morning breakfast and drive to Gurudongmar Lake. With an approx distance of 66km it is an overall 3hrs journey towards this beautiful Gurudongmar Lake from Lachen. This glacial lake is the major source of River Teesta. Gurudongmar is one of the highest lakes in the world and believed to be blessed by Guru Padmasambava but due to high altitude breathing problems may arise so you need to be careful. Sited on the foothill of snow capped mountain, Gurudongmar Lake has left many travelers enthralled with its ethereal beauty. After soaking yourself in the beauty of this majestic lake return to your hotel. After lunch, visit Lachen Monastery and check out from your hotel to start your journey to your hotel in Lachung via Chungthang. It is an overall 2Ã‚Â½hrs drive from Lachen with an approx distance of 46km to reach Lachung. Lachung is another quaint hamlet in North Sikkim. On the way to Lachung you can visit the Bhim Nala Waterfalls. The 2Ã‚Â½hrs drive to Lachung is filled the amazing sights. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the evening to relax and enjoy the majestic view of snow peaked mountains, vibrant rhododendron valley, and lush green yak pastures surrounding Lachung. Day 6: VISIT TO YUMTHANG VALLEY AND TRANSFER TO GANGTOK

After an early breakfast we will drive you to Yumthang Valley famously known as the Valley of Flowers. It is an hour drive from Lachung. Yumthang valley is situated at an altitude of nearly 11800 feet with the river Lachung Chu flowing through the valley. On your way to Yumthang Valley, you will be driving across the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary which has more than 120 species of Rhododendron trees and is also the home to the endemic Rhododendron Niveum, the State Tree of Sikkim. In the winter, Yumthang is hidden beneath the blanket of White Snow and showcases the view of snow clad mountains which add to the ethereal beauty of this place. Apart from winter season, in Yumthang Valley you can witness the amazing vista of diverse Himalayan Flora which is sure to leave you wanting for more. While returning from Yumthang you may visit the famous hot spring known for its curative properties. Visit Lachung Monastery once you reach your hotel. After lunch check out from your hotel and start your 6hrs journey towards your hotel in Gangtok. The scenic view of changing vegetation on the way to Gangtok is going to woo your mind. You will reach Gangtok after covering an approx distance of 110km. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the evening to relax or take a stroll in the MG Marg. Day 7: TRANSFER TO PELLING

After breakfast, checkout from your hotel and we will drive you to your hotel in Pelling. With an approx distance of 113km it is an overall 5hrs journey to reach Pelling from Gangtok. Pelling, thriving as one of the most alluring hill stations in India, is known for its scenic beauty and ancient monasteries in Sikkim. Pelling caught the limelight for offering the panoramic vista of Mt Khangchendzonga and its surrounding range. The archaic quaint Singshore Bridge is another major tourist attraction in Pelling. The journey between Gangtok and Pelling is a beautiful ride through steep green hills and deep valley filled with the mesmerizing land dotted with fast flowing mountain rivers and numerous waterfalls. Have your lunch on the way to Pelling. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the evening to either go for a leisure walk along the misty track through pine forest or try the local cuisine or simply relax in your room while enjoying the beautiful landscape of Pelling. Day 8: PELLING LOCAL SIGHTSEEING

After an early morning breakfast start your local sightseeing of Pelling from Darap Village this sleepy village is nestled on a gentle slope of the mountain and is mostly occupied by the Limboo tribe, although there are small population of other communities as well. Next we will drive you to Rimbi Waterfalls which is famous for its surreal beauty. It is also a favored fishing spot for the locals. From here we will take you to Sewaro Rock Garden. It is a well maintained garden with pools and a popular picnic spots and an ideal place to have lunch with your loved ones. After lunch we will take you to Khangchendzonga Waterfall one of the most spectacular waterfalls coming down from a great height. Since it is located bit further from the motorable road you need to walk for 10mins to reach this majestic waterfall. Khangchendzonga Waterfall is one of the most popular tourist spots in Pelling and a must see. Then we will head to Khecheopalri Lake. Also known as the wish fulfilling lake, Khecheopalri Lake is located near Kanchenjunga Waterfalls and on the way to Yuksom. The lake is surrounded by forests a great place to stay amidst the nature. After watching the astounding sites return to your resort. You are free for the rest of the evening to either watch the sunset over the Mighty Khangchendzonga from your hotel room or take a stroll in the evening around the helipad or Shopping centre of Pelling. Day 9: DROP TO NJP/BAGDOGRA VIA NAMCHI

Breakfast at hotel and after breakfast say your farewell to this beautiful town and start your 5 hr journey toward NJP/Bagdogra through steep green hill. On the way to NJP/Bagdogra you can visit Namchi while stopping for lunch. It is a fast developing place in South Sikkim is often known as the Culture Capital of the state. The place has been developed as a hub of religious and cultural tourism in Sikkim. In fact you can see replica of all the four Dhams of India (char Dhams) at Namchi and also the biggest statue of Guru Padmasambava. Namchi also has a well laid out township with a Central Park (a small square) at the town center it will take around 2hrs to visit all these places. Continue your journey towards NJP/Bagdogra after visiting the famous Char Dham of Sikkim. After reaching NJP/Bagdogra your 8Nights and 9Days Sikkim Tour Package will come to an end.
