At an elevation of 58 feet above sea level, Maldiram is a breathtaking village near Kurseon. Also pronounced as Mahal Diram, this splendid hilly settlement offers a breathtaking view of Mount Kanchenjunga and the surrounding hills covered with lush greenery. As located inside Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, you will get to see a plethora of flora and fauna in and around this place. When you arrive, a cloud greets you, and a lush green Tea Garden and neighboring Orange orchard give you a mysterious story. Maldiram is a well-known tea garden and one of the oldest tea estates in Kurseong's Shelpu Hills. It's a great spot to unwind and participate in activities while being near to nature.

Bagora is a lesser-known site that deserves to be properly explored. It is one of the few spots in the world where nature is so lush and beautiful. Bagora, nestled among the highly forested alpine forest and rhododendron trees, is famed for its breathtaking views of the snow-capped Mount Kanchenjunga. Chimney is another nearby place. Chimney is a picturesque village that is surrounded by lush alpine forest and the magnificent Himalayan Mountains in the background, and it has a wealth of historical value. You will love to spend some quality time here in this village. The birding paradise Latpanchar is also quite nearby where you will get to see some colorful Himalayan birds. Other nearby places you can see are Shivakhola, Mungpoo, Kurseong, Namthing Pokhari, etc.

How to Reach this Village

By Air: Bagdogra is its nearest airport at a distance of 50 km. You can rent a car from outside the airport. It will take around 3 hours to cover the approximate road distance of 50 km. You can travel the Hill Cart Road for about 25 minutes towards Darjeeling, then turn right at Dilaram. Bagora is another 15 minutes or so upwards on a winding road. The overall distance from Kurseong is around 17 kilometers.

By Train: NJP is the nearest railway station to this place. Just after reaching this railway station, you will be able to rent a cab from outside the station.

By Air: Bagdogra is its nearest airport at a distance of 50 km. You can rent a car from outside the airport. It will take around 3 hours to cover the approximate road distance of 50 km.

You can visit this tourist site at any time of the year. However, Summer is a pleasant season to visit because the weather is mild. The weather is beautiful during the monsoon, but the roads have deteriorated. The cold chills the bones in the winter, but the bright sky and stunning snow-capped mountain views make it worthwhile to visit the property during this season.
