Tourist Attractions in Kaleej Valley

One of the major sightseeing places in the valley is the temple of Yuma Samyo Manghim. It is an elegant temple where the believers of Yuma Samyo religion gather to worship. A huge stone in front of the temple can be seen. Legends say that the great mystic Guru Teyongsi Srijunga used to sit in this stone and deliver Yuma Samyo lessons to his devotees.

Just 13 km away from the temple, there is an ancient cave temple named Kailash Pati Guha. The cave is highly famous among the tourists, locals as well as the devotees of Lord Shiva. During Maha Shivratri, countless devotees gather in the Gufa to worship the god. The Ally cave or Allay Gufa near the Bermiok Bazar is just a few kilometres away and also dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Activities to Do in and Around the Village

Trekking, Village walking, birding are some of the major activities to do in the village. One can trek to the Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary through the long trekking trails of 19 km. Strolling around the village will let the tourists know the indigenous lifestyle and culture of the villagers. The gardens full of flowers and the Himalayan birds flying in the sky are awe-inspiring.

Moreover, a short excursion to all the nearby sightseeing places can also be executed. Drive to Chaayatal to enjoy the boating activity in the lake. Trek just 1 km from Chayatal to reach Barsey Rhodendron Sanctuary. Relish the beauty of the blooming rhododendrons and have a magnificent view of the Mighty Kanchenjunga along with its breathtaking surroundings.

How to Reach Kaleej Valley

The Valley of Kaleej is nicely connected by road. NJP is the nearby railway station and Bagdogra is the nearby airport. Bagdogra is 150 km away and NJP is 140 km away from Kaleej Valley. Cars are available to hire from NJP, Bagdogra as well as Siliguri to comfortably reach Kaleej Valley.

Best Time to Visit Kaleej Valley

If you want to catch the glimpse of mount Kanchenjunga in its full glory, October to February is the time to visit the Valley. However, if you are fond of trekking and blooming rhododendrons, March to April is the ideal time to visit Kaleej Valley in Sikkim.
