3 Days Dooars Tour Itinerary
On arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport, you will be greeted by our officials and then transferred to your Gorumara Government Forest Resort. In the Dooars Tour Package, you will enjoy a thrilling elephant ride and soothing tribal dance to charge you up for the next day. Gorumara is a verdant National Park of Dooars famous for housing a large number of Asiatic Rhinoceros. It is an overall journey of 2 hours with an approximate distance of 73 km. Check into your resort and freshen up. In the evening enjoy the exquisite tribal dance. Overnight stay in Gorumara.
Special Tips about Gorumara: Gorumara National Park is a mix of tropical forest, bamboo groves, grasslands, and river plants. The main trees here include Sal, teak, Sirish, and Simul. The park is home to 50 species of mammals, 194 types of birds, 22 species of reptiles, 7 types of turtles, and 27 species of fish, along with many other smaller creatures. Some of the large animals you can find are the one-horned rhinoceros, Indian bison (Gaur), Asian elephants, sloth bears, Chital, and Sambar deer. Smaller animals include barking deer, hog deer, and wild boars. The only large cat in the park is the leopard, but civets, mongooses, and giant squirrels are also found here. Rare hispid hares have also been spotted in the forest.
After an early breakfast, check out from your resort at Gorumara. The driver will drive you to your pre-booked resort in Jaldapara. The drive is about 77 km and takes around 2 hours. Once you arrive, check in to your resort and freshen up. After lunch, we will take you to Phuentsholing, a border town in Bhutan, located next to the Indian town of Jaigaon. The first thing you'll notice in Phuentsholing is the colourful Bhutan Gate with its carving of the Thunder Dragon. You can visit places like the Amo Chhu Crocodile Breeding Centre and the Karbandi Monastery, known for fulfilling wishes. You'll also get to learn about the culture and traditions of Bhutan. After sightseeing, return to your resort for an overnight stay at Jaldapara.
Special Tips: The Present King of Bhutan is Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. The currency of Bhutan is Nu almost equal to Indian Rupees. In 1907 Wangchuck dynasty was established. Trongsa Penlop Ugyen Wangchuck was the first hereditary king of Bhutan. He was the first Druk Gyalpo or the 'Dragon King'.
After an early morning breakfast, check out from the resort and proceed for the Jaldapara Jungle Safari. Jaldapara is located at a 20mins driving distance from South Khayerbari. The Jungle Safari in Jaldapara is one of the most prominent attractions of the Dooars region. Being the home of one-horned Rhinoceros and Bengal Florican, the rich biodiversity of Jaldapara National Park will leave you awe-stricken. Every year from 15th June to 15th September Jaldapara remains closed and during this time you cannot go for Elephant Safari or Jeep Safari in Jaldapara.
After exploring the less trodden part of Jaldapara bid adieu to Dooars and proceed towards New Jalpaiguri Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport. It is an overall ride of 3hrs with an approximate distance of 122km. If time permits you can have some refreshment on the way to New Jalpaiguri/ Bagdogra. Special Tips about Jaldapara: There are about 20 species of mammals, 240 species of birds, and 8 species of freshwater turtles available in this forest. Among mammals' rhinoceros, elephants, leopards, sambar, barking deer, spotted deer, hog deer, wild bores and Indian gaurs can be seen. Bengal florican one of the rarest species of bird is found in this forest. Other birds like crested eagle, fin's weaver, jungle fowl, peafowl, partridge, and lesser pied hornbills are inhabitants of Jaldapara National Park. Python, monitor lizard, krait, cobra, and gecko are important habitats among reptiles. Some rare species like the hispid hare and the hog-badger are also found in Jaldapara National Park.
