Experience Sunderbans is a compact, immersive cruise into the largest mangrove forest in the world. This 2 nights-3 days package combines comfortable river travel, guided creek tours, heritage stay at Matla Tourism Property and close-up encounters with the tidal waterways, watch towers and local island communities. Ideal for nature lovers and photographers seeking the unique flora, fauna and the rhythmic life of the Sundarbans.

The tour departs from the Tourism Centre (Kolkata) and includes motor-launch cruises through creeks, visits to village craft hubs and forest watch towers such as Sajnekhali and Sudhanyakhali. Guests stay at the Matla Tourism Property with meals and guided excursions as per the itinerary.

Experience Sunderbans Tour Itinerary for 2 Nights & 3 Days

Day 1: River Arrival & Village Exploration: Godkhali, Rangabelia & Matla Tourism Property

Meet at the Tourism Centre, BBD Bagh at 6:30 AM where we welcome and board the AC coach. By 7:15 AM we set off toward Godkhali, with a packed breakfast served on the way. Around 10:45 AM we reach Godkhali Jetty and begin the river cruise; tea/coffee and light snacks are provided while the motor launch carries us through mangrove-lined channels. At 12:15 PM we arrive at Matla Tourism Property and complete check-in, followed by lunch at 1:00 PM. Later in the afternoon, after a short launch ride and a drive to Pakhiralaya, we reach Rangabelia (Tagore Society) by 3:15 PM to meet local artisans. A scenic cruise back brings us to Matla TP by 5:15 PM, with evening tea at 6:30 PM and dinner at 9:00 PM. Night stay at Matla Tourism Property.

Day 2: Creeks, Canopies & Confluences: Sarakkhali, Dobanki & Panchamukhani

We begin at 7:00 AM with a launch cruise from Matla TP to Sarakkhali. The morning is devoted to a creek tour - Sarakkhali, Bonbibi bhorani, Sundarkhali and Choragajikhali - where boats cruise past wildlife-rich channels (cruise time Ã¢â€°Ë† 5 hours). Breakfast and tea are served aboard. By 12:00 PM the launch reaches Dobanki Tiger Reserve for a canopy tour and a one-hour stop to explore the reserve. After visiting Panchamukhani (the confluence of five rivers) we return toward Matla TP, arrive about 5:00 PM, enjoy evening snacks, dinner at 9:00 PM and overnight at Matla Tourism Property.

Day 3: Watch Towers & Return: Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali & Back to Kolkata

After an early stroll around Matla TP and breakfast at 8:00 AM, we depart at 9:00 AM cruising through Sarakkhali II toward Sudhanyakhali. By 11:00 AM we arrive at Sudhanyakhali Tiger Project to visit the watch tower. Lunch is served during the cruise back to Godkhali, reaching around 1:30 PM. From Godkhali the coach transfers you back to Kolkata, arriving at the Tourism Centre by approximately 5:45 PM, marking the end of the tour.

Single occupancy surcharge (single room/ cabin) - 25% extra on package rate; contact Tourism Centre, Kolkata for arrangements.

Terms & Conditions

Accommodation is on twin sharing basis (For single occupancy requirements 25% extra on package rate is chargeable and needs to contact Tourism Centre, Kolkata for such requests) for packages with night stay at WBTDCL Tourism Properties.
It is compulsory for tourists to carry a valid Photo ID card like Voter Card / Passport / Pan Card/ Driving License/ Photo ID card issued by Central / State Govt. for their employees etc., mentioned in reservation slip in original for availing the tour.
The reservation tickets are not transferable and valid only if one of the ID cards is presented.
During the course of the package the decision of the tour conducting office would be final.
A-la-carte menu is available on demand at the respected Tourism Property at own cost.
Itinerary may be changed / altered due to exigencies or unavoidable circumstances.
Minimum break-even pax required; if not met, tour may be cancelled with full refund.
No charge below 3 years.
Children above 3 years full charges applicable (except packages with special rules).
Wildlife Safaris are controlled by the Forest Department and may change under exigencies.
