Though, Dooars can be visited any time during the year but the best time to visit Dooars and for animal sightseeing is between the months of November to March. The weather is quite cool and comfortable. During summer months of April, May and June, the weather is hot and humid. However, it heavily rains from July to September.
Forest in Dooars i.e. Gorumara, Jaldapara, Chilapata, Buxa remains closed from 15 June to 15 September every year. Entry to the forest is restricted during this period. No forest safaris are organised during this time of the year.
Tickets for Jungle Safari, Elephant Safari, Jeep Safari are issued on the spot by the Forest Department. Issuance of ticket for Jungle Safari, Elephant Safari or Jeep Safari solely depend on Forest Department Authorities. Pre-booking of tickets is not possible, hence bookings cannot be guaranteed in advance.
No, private vehicles are restricted to enter the forests. Only Forest Department Jeeps are allowed inside the forest. Jeeps are provided from the respective ticket counters.
Yes, every individual of Indian origin should produce any of the Government ID proofs like - Voter ID, Aadhar Card, Driving License or Passport.
Only 6 (six) visitors are permitted in one car along with a Guide provided by Forest Department.
