FAQs About Sandakphu Trek

Q. When is the best time to visit Sandakphu?
The best times are spring (March to May) when the flowers bloom, and autumn (October to December) when the skies are very clear. Avoid the monsoon (June to September) because of rain, and be ready for cold if you trek in winter (December to February).
Q. Is the trek difficult?
It's a moderate trek. If you can walk 5-8 hours a day with a small backpack, you'll be fine. Some parts are steep, so it's good to prepare a little with walking or light exercise before coming.
Q. What kind of places will I stay in?
You'll stay in simple homestays and trekkers' huts - basic but comfortable. You'll get warm beds, blankets, and local food. Some places have limited electricity and hot water.
Q. What kind of food is available?
You'll eat basic Indian and Nepali food like rice, lentils (dal), vegetables, sometimes eggs or chicken. Noodles and rotis (bread) are common too. It's a good idea to bring snacks like energy bars or dry fruits.
Q. Do I need permits?
Yes, you need a permit for Singalila National Park. We'll help you get it at Manebhanjan. Carry a photo ID and passport-size photos.
Q. What should I pack?
Bring warm clothes (layered clothing is best), a waterproof jacket, trekking pants, good trekking shoes, gloves, a woolen hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a water bottle, flashlight, and a small day bag. Trekking poles can help too!
Q. Is Sandakphu trek safe?
Yes, it's a safe trek, and the local people are very friendly. It's better to trek with an experienced guide who knows the trails and weather conditions. Our guides are trained and will make sure you stay safe and enjoy the trek.
