Located in the Alipurduar District of West Bengal, Jaigaon is a border town between India and Bhutan. The iconic Bhutan Gate separates both of these two countries. Spreading over an area of 760 km2, the forested area of Buxa is the natural habitat of wild animals like Sambar Deer, Elephant, Gaur, Clouded Leopard, Indian Leopard, etc and birds like Blue rock thrush, Verditer flycatcher, Red junglefowl, great hornbill and more.
- Garuchira: It is an offbeat village in the Alipurduar District and quite near to Jaigaon. Nestled beside the daunting hills of Bhutan, it offers the travelers to witness some of the fascinating wildlife of Dooars. The shimmering Sukti and Reti River flow through the hamlet.
- Raimatang: Amidst the lush green forest of Buxa Tiger Reserve, Raimatang is a small village. Being just a 40 km distance away from Jaigaon, it is one of the worth visiting destinations nearby. The forest village offers a glimpse of some endangered wild animals of Dooars.
How to Reach Jaigaon West Bengal
- By Air: The city does not have an airport and the nearest one is Bagdogra airport. Travelers have to board a flight towards this airport and from there hire a reserved car to reach the city.
- By Train: The city does not have a railway station either. As a result, travelers have to buy train tickets to its nearby station NJP. From the station, a well-maintained car or taxi can be hired.
- By Road: Jaigaon is easily accessible by road from most of its nearby destinations like Siliguri, Alipurduar, Bagdogra, and more. The travelers have to seek a trusted car rental agency to hire a car.
